How to love genuinely is a well searched topic on the internet for so many people desiring true love. When it is pure, real and sincere, love is one feeling that gives life and hope to the soul. It is the best, sweetest and most nutritious food supplements to the heart.
When you experience an act of love from someone, your entire body at that moment is lighted up in such a way that you ponder if truly this is happening. Sometimes you wish such moment do not come to an end .
While some of us may be familiar with this story, some may be reading it for the first time. However, let me still re-share it once again. It’s about a little boy who in spite of being disadvantaged with his physical abilities, still knows the value of life and true love even more than millions of people who have lived decades of their lives.
Once was a farmer who had some puppies for sale. He made a sign advertising the pups and nailed it to a post on the edge of his yard.
As he was nailing the sign to the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down to see a little boy with a big grin and something in his hand.
“Mister,” he said, “I want to buy one of your puppies.
“Well,” said the farmer, “these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal.
The boy dropped his head for a moment, then looked back up at the farmer and said,
“I’ve got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?”
“Sure,” said the farmer, and with that he whistled and called out, “Dolly. Here,
Dolly.” Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.
The little boy’s eyes danced with delight.
Then out from the doghouse peeked another little ball; this one noticeably smaller.
Down the ramp it slid and began hobbling in an unrewarded attempt to catch up with the others.
The little boy pressed his face to the fence and cried out, “I want that one,” pointing to the runt.
The farmer knelt down and said, “Son, you don’t want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you the way you would like”.
With that, the boy reached down and slowly pulled up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his legs attaching itself to a specially made shoe.
Looking up at the farmer, he said, ” You see sir, I don’t run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands”.
“A little choked up, the farmer gently lifted the puppy up and set it in the boy’s arms.
“How much?” the little boy asked.
“There is no charge for love,” responded the farmer.

From this little boy’s action, am sure the farmer must have been overwhelmed seeing this coming from such a kid and which prompted him to give the puppy for free.
Many of us are like this kid, we are faced with same situations with others but instead of identifying with those in the same problem and sought for possible solutions, we rather feel within us that ”everybody should solve his/her problems themselves”.
The little boy had in mind to buy the best puppy but seeing the situation of the other puppy, he left the best for the ”worst”.
Probably as a child with such difficulty, he must have been left in a state of loneliness by his peers, and probably he may have thought the puppy was in d same situation like him.
The little boy showed us that Love is an action, not just a feeling.
One of the main essence of our existence here on earth is to show love to as many people that come across our paths irrespective of colour, race, tribe, philosophical views, religion etc.
We can do this by not showing bias in dishing the acts of love out. It doesn’t cost much but rather it replenishes one with more blessings.
Our situations and life’s conditions have eaten deep into us that we barely forget about those whose conditions are worse than ours.
Everyone today goes on and only have in mind or cares about what and how he/she would gain something out of any situation irrespective of what it may cause those around him/her.
We can’t be living ”about us and for us alone”, there are people around us whose plans are affected by our actions either positively or negatively.
A little degrading of one’s self and elevating of another person at one’s own cost, will add smile and beauty to the world.
I will conclude with this, ”irrespective of your situation, the world still needs you to play your part meaningfully. It doesn’t cost much to make someone happy”. This is the best way on how to love genuinely.
